A Week in Pictures

Week[The sunrise on the way into work]

This was one of those weeks where everything seemed to suck. I was sick, it’s freezing out, I had a ton of work to do, and I’m so behind in everything. But I was just so happy, I didn’t care. I felt like I was in a movie – birds chirping, sun is shining, music playing in my head, smiling ear to ear, champagne with every meal. Here was my week in just a few pictures.

Meet Me in St. Thomas

St. Thomas is hands down one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life. I traveled there with my family while on a cruise a few years back. We started off our day getting a driven tour of the island. We went ventured up to the peaks of the island were we looked out at the ocean that seemed to stretch on forever.  We stopped at various points admiring the views and random animals that were roaming the island. We retreated to Magen’s Bay where we laid on the beach and relaxed in the calm, crystal clear water. The beach was so relaxing and is exactly what I think of when I think of paradise. After a few hours on the beach, we hopped back into the car, where they took us to see the beach we were just at, but from above. This is the first time in my life that I saw something that actually took my breath away. I don’t think any camera can capture how stunning the view really was. I could have stayed there forever. Since we were on a tour, and had to comply with the timeline, we eventually had to leave :(. We arrived back at our ship and departed from the island in perfect time for sunset. All in all, another perfect day in paradise.

Meet Me in Santa Monica

For our second two nights in Cali we stayed in Santa Monica at the Huntley Hotel. Everyone, do yourselves a favor and go there! This place was amazing. It’s one block away from the beach and right by the pier. There is a rooftop restaurant that has 360 views of Santa Monica from above, including an insane view of the sunset. We spent our short time here drinking at the rooftop bar,  going on rides at the pier and catching up with old west coast college friends.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Purple

[Punta Cana, Dominican Republic]

As soon as I saw this week’s Photo Challenge, I thought of this picture. This was taken on a gorgeous beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The purple sunset seamed to be tinting everything and I just stood there in awe of one of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Meet Me in Fire Island

This past weekend I went away for my annual Fire Island mini-vacation. Every year my friends and I take this trip on the same weekend, stay in the same crappy hotel room, and love every second of it. For those of you who don’t know where Fire Island is, it is a long and skinny island directly south of Long Island. The amazing thing about it is as soon as you arrive you seem to be in another world. You have to take a boat to get there, and once you have arrived, the main mode of transportation is a bike. The streets are lined with adorable shops, intimate restaurants and beachy bars. This was exactly the weekend escape I needed after a long and stressful week. Too bad anytime you go away with eleven girlfriends, you can’t plan to get too much rest!

The Search for a Sunset

I am literally fascinated by the sun… I have always loved pretty much everything about it… I love the warm weather, the sunset, the sunrise, suntans, sunglasses, etc etc… But just overall how good weather makes me feel.. I’ll tell you that no matter what my mood, watching the sunset will always make me feel better and more relaxed. Since I moved  around a year ago, I have been searching for a nice place to enjoy the sunset. A place that I can call “my spot.”

Over the weekend, Bading, my cousin and I finally found a place that I love! It has everything I was looking for: a great view of the sunset, the water, a beach, and nice scenic paths to walk along. I have a feeling I’m going to be spending a lot of time here.
