A Week in Pictures

Week[The sunrise on the way into work]

This was one of those weeks where everything seemed to suck. I was sick, it’s freezing out, I had a ton of work to do, and I’m so behind in everything. But I was just so happy, I didn’t care. I felt like I was in a movie – birds chirping, sun is shining, music playing in my head, smiling ear to ear, champagne with every meal. Here was my week in just a few pictures.

Dylan’s Candy Bar

DylansDylans’s Candy Bar is like dying and going to candy heaven. With only five locations in the world, this buffet of sweets is right by my job, which means serious trouble. I don’t let myself go there too often, but when I do, oh my goodness! It is such a unique candy store… it combines two of my favorite things – candy and art. They have over 5,000 different types of candy here! From jelly bellys, to cotton candy, ice cream, chocolate fountains, vintage sweets, and any type of candy you are looking for, this is the place to go.  I clearly always find myself in the fudge & chocolate sections. Have you ever been to Dylan’s? What are your favorite sweets?stairwayjellysCandylollicolorCandy WallfudgeChocolate FountainCotton candyDylansice creamChocolate

The Best Week Ever

The events of this past week have completely changed my life! I have been completely M.I.A. and soooo busy, I haven’t even touched my computer. But, I have some exciting news! Me and Ruben are engaged!! I’m going to go float off to cloud 9 again. I promise I will be back soon 🙂

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

Cookie PieIn case you didn’t already know, I love chocolate. I need to eat chocolate every day. I was frantically searching my apartment for something chocolatey to eat, but all I could find was chocolate chips. There is nothing better than a warm, homemade chocolate chip cookie – and I had all the ingredients for the classic snack already in my pantry. But then I started fantasizing about one of my favorite restaurants and the best dessert on their menu, a deep dish, hot and melty, chocolate chip pie, a la mode, and I immediately starting searching for a recipe. I found this recipe that was prefect and so easy to make. They recommend letting it cool completely, but I obviously stared at it for 10 minutes, and then couldn’t wait any longer. I cut in even though it was still burning hot and melting everywhere. So yummy!CDPCDPCDPCDPPieCDP

Hubbas

Hubba’s is one of those hidden-gem dive type places in Westchester County that I’m just waiting to see on Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives.  Even as a hole-in-the-wall type place, people flock from far and wide to fight over one of the 13 bar stools that are available to their guests. We try to go at off times. Officially known as Pat’s Hubba Hubba, they are known for their amazing and addicting chili, laid back atmosphere, and one of a kind decor. Basically any hour of the night your craving hits, Hubba’s won’t disappoint – you can show up to 5:00 am and still get all the chili you could ever want.  BaDing and his buddies are pretty much obsessed with this place, and half of their high school memories are based around late night trips for their favorite meal – ordering “the usual.” It’s not just a loved by locals, it’s also been recognized many times for having the best chili in the area. If you ever make it there, don’t forget it’s cash only!

What to order, according to BaDing: Chili cheese dog wedge, chili cheese fries, and Hubba water. IMG_8098IMG_8099IMG_8100rube stuffing his facehubbasphoto-24Signature-05

Meet Me in Tortola

tortolaWhile I love the winter, I have always been the summer beach bum type. I was bundling up this morning putting on layers upon layers, and I couldn’t help but day-dream about the beach. Sitting in a beach chair, feet in the hot sand, and pina colada in hand. Sounds like heaven to me. Tortola is one of the British Virgin Islands located in the Caribbean and it’s spot-on paradise. One of the best beaches that I have ever been to is a secluded beach in Tortola. The particular beach we went to was in a bay with nothing ahead but the clear blue Caribbean sea. I can’t wait to go on vacation!!!

A New Year

oceanNew Years Eve is my least favorite holiday of the year…but luckily it’s followed with New Years Day, which is all about fresh starts and new beginnings. I’m excited to start new and see what 2013 has to bring me. Even though we are only a few days into the year, it has been a wonderful start with great news and a weekend getaway! There are so many things I have to look forward to. Here’s hoping for a great year, filled with success, love, food, and travel. Signature-05
